Jodhpur: Films chosen from different countries of West and East Europe will be screened at the upcoming 20th European Union Film Festival, which will kick-start from July 10 here.

Director of the Polish Institute Anna Tryc-Bromley will inaugurate the 15-day festival at the Mini Auditorium.

"There will be a screening of 21 films from 21 nations, most of which have been awarded in International Films Festivals, in total 15 days from July 10 to July 24," said the Secretary of the Jodhpur Film Society, Mohan Swaroop Maheshwari.

This is for the third time, that a small town like Jodhpur has been chosen as a screening venue by the European Union for its films.

"We are happy to have convinced the decision-making body of the festival to think beyond the metro and capital towns for the screening of their films and are thankful to them that not only did they agree but included Jodhpur in their calendar," Maheshwari said.

Brought by the delegation of the European Union of India, embassies of the member states of the EU and organised with the help of local partners, the film festival was kicked off in March this year and passing through Chandigarh, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi and Ahmedabad will culminate in July.
