Los Angeles: "Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe is returning to the New York stage for off Broadway play "Privacy."

Radcliffe, 26, will play a writer in the stage show, which will centre on government surveillance techniques uncovered after famous 'whistlebower' Edward Snowden leaked documents while working for the National Security Agency (NSA).

"Privacy" will be directed by Josie Rourke from a play written by James Graham, who will serve as inspiration for Daniel's character, The Hollywood Reporter.

The show is scheduled to begin in July and will also star Rachel Dratch, Michael Countryman, Reg Rogers, De'Adre Aziza and Raffi Barsoumian.

Radcliffe bared all on the New York stage in "Equus"; he has also appeared in the musical "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" and the play "The Cripple of Inishmaan".
