New Delhi: Alluring Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo best known for her self-portraits has gone unforgotten in the pages of history.

Adding to her body of work and life, love letters written for her Spanish lover by the artist are now being auctioned.

New York's Doyle auction house sold a collection of 25 unpublished letters that flawless artist Frida Kahlo exchanged with her lover Josep Bartoli.

Josep was a Spanish sketch artist and painter living in exile in the Big Apple.

The final bid of $137,000 exceeded the price Doyle had estimated the letters would bring - between $80,000 and $120,000 - and they were bought by an anonymous individual.

Reports suggest, Kahlo was 39 in 1946 when she met Bartoli through her sister Cristina.

Frieda who was married to Mexican painter Diego Rivera pushed her passion of painting.
