Lucknow, Nov 17: Muslim organisations today criticised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav for defending the filing of supplementary chargesheet by CBI in the Ayodhya case, dropping the conspiracy charge against top BJP leaders, saying the affidavit submitted in the Supreme Court "was wrong". "We will protest and seek clarification as to why Mulayam Singh Yadav had submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court claiming there was no criminal conspiracy in demolition of the mosque," Zaffaryab Jilani, convenor the All India Babri Masjid Action Committee (AIBMAC) and member All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) told news agencies here today.

In addition to this, the affidavit also said that it was wrong to assume that Babri Masjid was demolished on December 6, 1992 pursuant to a conspiracy by any specific community or political party.

Expressing "shock and dismay" over the "sudden" change in stand, Jilani said, "if Yadav had given an affidavit saying no political party was involved in the demolition of the mosque on December 6, 1992, it was a wrong statement".

"Presence of then Union HRD Minister Murli Manohar Joshi, who was then president of the party, and L K Advani at the demolition site on that ill-fated day was enough indication as which party was involved in the demolition," Jilani said, adding that the government's attempt to protect BJP leaders was "surprising".
Th issue is likely to be taken up during AIMPLB's ‘Iftar’ party on November 20.
