Nagpur, Aug 06: Congress today alleged that the BJP's proposal to hold simultaneous elections for Lok Sabha and assemblies was aimed at "dissolving the assemblies in five congress-ruled states". BJP's hidden agenda behind the simultaneous polls was to dissolve the assemblies in five congress ruled states, including Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Rajasthan, and place them under governor's rule till the polls, Maharashtra Pradesh congress committee president Ranjeet Deshmukh told. "The assembly elections in the five states are due in November this year and putting these states under governor's rule would enable BJP to run the affairs of these five states", he said.
Deshmukh alleged that neither would Lok Sabha polls be advanced nor would simultaneous polls be held till political atmosphere favourble to BJP was created.
To a question on Maharashtra going for simultaneous polls Deshmukh said congress high command will be the ultimate authority to decide on it since the last elections were held together.
