Seven people, including a woman, died and over thirty others were hospitalised after consuming spurious liquor in Murbad Taluka of Maharashtra's Thane district, police said on Sunday. The victims, all brick kiln workers, consumed the spirit on Saturday at Pimpalgaon Latyacha Pada after purchasing it from a local vendor.
They immediately started vomiting and complained of stomach pain and blindness and were rushed to hospital where seven of them died, they said. The spirit vendor had been arrested while his son was absconding, police said adding a case had been registered against the vendor in connection with the sale of spurious spirit and causing death.
