New Delhi: The story of prince Ram and his fight with demon king Ravan is all set to hit theatres this Dussehra in an animated form.
Produced by Ketan Mehta, whose credits include Aamir Khan starrer `Mangal Pandey` and `Rang Rasiya`, `Ramayana - The Epic` will release in several languages in October.
The poster shots of the film show an `Avatar` like Ram brandishing a bow and an arrow.
`Ramayana - The Epic` has Manoj Bajpayee, Juhi Chawla, and Ashutosh Rana lending their voices to the lead characters of Ram, Sita and Ravan.
"The legend of Rama, the original Indian superhero, is the most popular Indian story ever told. `Ramayana - The Epic` is a spectacular audio visual experience far beyond any thing ever attempted in India with skills and designs matching international standards of computer animation and digital visual effects," Mehta said.
Debutante director Chetan Desai said that he worked on the movie for five years.
"It is the end result of nearly 5 years of hard work. The concept consumed me for nearly 3 years after which we worked on our computer screens day and night for over two years to come up with the final result," said Desai.
