Miami, Nov 13: The Cleveland Cavaliers are begining to see returns in their investment in rookie LeBron James.
Rookie sensation LeBron James has begun to show signs of his promise making an impact on the fortunes of the Cleveland Cavaliers as they jumped to life this week winning two games in a row. Cleveland managed to win two straight games just once all of last season, en route to an NBA worst record of 17-65. Chris Mihm scored 19 points and James added 17 as the Cleveland Cavaliers won their second straight game, 94-80 over the New York Knicks in NBA play on Monday. But led by a balanced scoring attack, the Cavaliers scored the first 13 points of the game and grabbed a 22-point lead in the first half to improve to 2-5 after losing their first five games of the season. James, the number one pick in June's NBA Draft, scored all of his points on jumpers and made all three 3-point shots he took in just his seventh game. James was feeling better about his team's performances while practising in Miami for Wednesdays' game against the Heat. "You know we're here for a reason. Everybody here knows how to play the game of basketball and you know we all love to win. You know my main purpose for the Cavs is to try and get them back to their winning ways," James told reporters.
Cavaliers head coach Paul Silas is clearly pleased with what he has seen so far with his young superstar. "This kind of surprises me cause you wouldn't think a kid of his age could read with all of this.....nice manner, not antagonistic to any of his teammates. That's the main thing I look for...how he deals with his teammates because it would really be a problem if he wasn't the kind of kid that he is."
James was selected with the first pick in the 2003 NBA draft to help Cleveland shed its losing image and put fans in the seats. Until late last week James had put people in the seats, but he hasn't been able to get the Cavaliers a win. Things have clearly changed in Cleveland.
