New Delhi, July 03: Demanding equal representation for Dalits on the Talhan Gurudwara Management Committee, Lok Janashakti Party today said it would march to Parliament to protest alleged "injustice" towards people belonging to the scheduled castes.
"Going against the high court order ensuring equal representation for people of all castes, the Talhan Gurudwara Management Committee does not have a single Dalit member," LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan charged at a press conference here.
Dalits could not find a place on the management committee even after it was promised by Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, Paswan said, demanding 50 per cent reservation for the backward classes on the managing body.
Paswan said LJP would launch a "Dalit chetna cycle march" on Friday next from Talhan in Punjab to Parliament protesting the "injustice" against Dalits. On the Best Bakery case, Paswan accused the Gujarat government of ensuring acquittals of those involved in the post-Godhra incident that killed 12 people in Vadodara on March 1 last year.
"Gujarat government is acting hand-in-glove with the criminals involved in the gruesome incident in Vadodara," he alleged. Bureau Report
