Washington, Mar 22: The White House said that earth-shaking bombings of Baghdad may leave few civilians dead, despite the fireballs and thundering explosions over live television broadcasts from the Iraqi city.
"This is targeted at the military targets," spokesman
Ari Fleischer told reporters yesterday, adding "and if there
are civilian casualties, of course, there are no guarantees in
war."
In a letter formally notifying us lawmakers of the decision to wage war, bush said the attack had been "carefully planned to accomplish our goals with the minimum loss of life among coalition military forces and to innocent civilians."
"The Iraqi people have lived under a brutal dictatorship led by Saddam Hussein and the history of mankind shows that people want to be free.
"And given the chance to throw off a brutal dictator like Saddam Hussein people will rejoice," said the spokesman.
