A senior AIADMK leader and MP said that there was no immediate move by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to step down from the post in the light of the observations made by a Supreme Court bench hearing a batch of petitions challenging her appointment as the chief minister. Senior party leader and former state election commissioner K Malaichamy told reporters that as of now there was no such move by Jayalalithaa to step down. As of now, there is no danger of her stepping down, he said. Regarding the apex court judgement on the Tansi land scam case, he said though the time was running out for Jayalalithaa to get elected to the assembly before November 13, it was still managable.
