Hyderabad, Aug 01: The Andhra Pradesh government has asserted that it would resist any move by neighbouring Karnataka to utilise water beyond allocation, violating the agreements and awards. Taking strong objection to his Karnataka counterpart's remarks in assembly on Wednesday on irrigation projects, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said, Karnataka has been going ahead with all the unjust projects in total violation of water sharing agreements and awards.

"I am sure, has some idea of the problems faced by lower riparian states. The way he took up the projects in haste, non-disclosure of facts even to Central agencies, misrepresentation of facts at different fora and not acknowledging what was submitted to Supreme Court is beyond my comprehension," Naidu said in a letter released here last night. Alleging Karnataka of concealing facts and shift of stand on projects like upper Tunga, Paragodu and its silence on projects taken up on Manjira, Naidu said people of Andhra should be on the guard and oppose the project taken up by upper riparian states beyond the allocations.
Advising the neighbouring state to adhere by the awards of the tribunal and its right interpretation in letter and spirit, he said Karnataka should stop all constructions which violate the water sharing norms, agreements and awards.
