‘Sheila’ and ‘Munni’ challenged producer Rohan Sippy

Item songs have added a new dimension to the art of film-making. And to meet the demand, Rohan has decided to come up with a feet tapping number in his film.

Mumbai: Item songs have added a new dimension to the art of film-making. And to create a raunchy yet a catchy chartbuster is a task for sure. Producer Rohan Sippy off late is facing the challenges propounded by ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ and ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’. To cope with this pressure, Rohan has decided to come up with a feet tapping number in his film. Talking about the impact that item songs create, Sippy while talking to reporters said, "The current gods of the entertainment have been the latest item songs. Munni and Sheila have raised expectations from movie item songs.” Sippy’s much awaited film ‘Dum Maro Dum’ starring Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Bipasha Basu has a remixed version of ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’s’ evergreen hit ‘Dum Maro Dum’. The original version featured the effervescent Zeenat Aman, while the moderinsed version has dimpled hottie Deepika Padukone grooving in to the breath taking song. “The fact that we are adding a song that has been a rage for forty years is not an easy thing to attempt. The kind of expectations it raises and the comparisons it draws bogs you down. But, at the same time I`m happy the way we have made it." Buzz has it that the song was incorporated at a later stage and was not a part of the script earlier. Considering the magnanimous fan following of ‘Sheila’ and ‘Munni’, Sippy thought it would be best to have dusky beauty Deepika to groove in to the beat. But now whether or not Dips manages to pull the crowd, is something which time will tell!
