Islamabad, Aug 26: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to devise joint strategies to tackle the scourge of terrorism, Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has said.
Pointing out that Saudi Arabia had suffered terrorist
attacks as in Pakistan, he said, "This is a time to ponder. We
also discussed this aspect with the Saudi leadership and
contemplated a joint strategy at higher level in this
connection."
The pledge to cooperate was made during Jamali's visit to Saudi Arabia last week. Jamali returned yesterday after a five-day visit to the kingdom.
Jamali also said that there was a need to bring about changes in the structure of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC).
Member countries of OIC such as Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Malaysia and turkey would have to play a role, he said but did not elaborate the nature of the changes proposed.
He said Pakistan and Saudi Arab enjoyed close friendly relations and "our efforts are to further cement these relations". Bureau Report
