Chandigarh, Sept 13: Three DSPs were among 88 police officials booked in 58 cases by the Punjab police and vigilance bureau in its drive against corruption during April to August this year, a VB spokesman said today. Those booked under various sections of IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act included two inspectors, nine SIS, 28 ASIS, 22 head constables and 24 constables, he said.
DSP Sajjan Singh was booked for accepting Rs 3,50,00 from a person for saving him from a case in Goraya in Jalandhar district, the spokesman said.
In another case in Ferozepur distrct, DSP Harbans Lal along with other policemen accepted Rs 3.20 lakh from a petrol pump owner after threatening him that he would be booked for selling adulterated petrol, he said.
In Jalandhar, inspector Harpreet Singh was caught while accepting a huge amount as bribe from a couple, arrested with Hawala currency, he said, adding inspector Didar Singh and ASI Hari Singh were brought to book for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a person in Patiala.
