Meghalaya Chief Minister E K Mawlong, whose ministry was reduced to a minority two days ago, on Wednesday said he was not resigning, even as the nascent People's Forum of Meghalaya prepared to formally stake claim to form an alternative government on Thursday.
"I will try till the last moment ... I can still turn the tables," Mawlong told newsmen here when asked about the PFM's decision to lay claim to form a government. "Mawlong is still dreaming that he has majority support," retorted F A Khonglam, who was unanimously elected the leader of the PFM, when contacted.
"As soon as the governor returns tomorrow (Thursday) we will stake claim to form a new government as the Mawlong Meghalaya Parliamentary Forum ministry has been reduced to a minority," Khonglam said.
He claimed that PFM's strength was 43 and not 42 as projected.
"We are 43 including the Speaker E D Marak," the PFM leader said.
