Mumbai: Originally known as the Khiladi Kumar of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar celebrates his 44th birthday today.
Born as Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia on 9th September 1967 in a middle class Punjabi family in Amritsar, Akshay has come a long way from being a waiter to becoming one of the top actors of Bollywood, who made his debut in 1991 with ‘Saugandh’ and went on to act in Box Office hits like ‘Khiladi’, ‘Mohra’, ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’, ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Dhadkan’, ‘Khakee’, ‘Namastey London’, ‘Welcome’, ‘Singh Is Kinng’, ‘Housefull’ and ‘Palatia House’.
Raised in Delhi’s Chandni Chowk, Akshay lived in Mumbai and studied martial arts in Bangkok, where he also worked as a chef. He returned to India to teach martial arts but was bitten by the Bollywood bug.
Akshay Kumar is looking forward to the release of his maiden overseas production ‘Speedy Singhs.’
