Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar unfurled the national flag, inspected a guard of honour and took the salute of an impressive parade of police and school students at the main
function held at parade ground, Campal here.
Paying rich tributes to the freedom fighters and martyrs, Parrikar said, "We are reaping the fruits of freedom because of the sacrifices made by them."
He also announced a new scheme "Freedom from Unemployment" that would be launched by the government shortly to solve the unemployment problem.
Laying stress on improving the quality of education, Parikkar said “it is the endeavour of the government to make Goa a centre of excellence in the field" and listed various steps taken by the government to that effect.
