Islamabad, July 28: In the third such attack in a month, unidentified persons fired two rockets on a couple of oil wells in a gas field in southwestern Balochistan, causing a loss of Rs two million.
The attack occurred despite a joint operation of more than 4,000 para-military forces, which is underway on the border of Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab in an attempt to capture those involved in the killing of senior police officers and attacks on gas pipelines. While the rangers have arrested 125 persons, a large number of other outlaws have gone underground, director general of rangers Salahuddin Satti said. A house-to-house search was underway in border villages. As part of their operations, law-enforcement agencies have seized arms including Kalashnikov's, rifles, mausers, pistols, guns, rockets and hand grenades from the houses of outlaws and demolished their dwellings. The operation has been launched since July 10 as per the instructions of prime minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and included the safety of the gas pipelines in the area.
