Mumbai: This superstar is often in the news for both good and bad reasons. At 48, he is still one of the most eligible bachelors in the country, popular for delivering entertaining films and runs a non-profit organisation by the name ‘Being Human’.
2013 was a dry year of sorts for the Khan at the Box Office as he didn’t have a single release. ‘Jai Ho’, his latest, which released last month, didn’t quite live up to people’s expectations. The film’s lacklustre performance at the Box Office left many surprised but that hasn’t dampened Salman’s spirits.
The hunk of an actor, whose magnanimity is often spoken about, thanked every single member associated with ‘Jai Ho’ by issuing cheques of Rs 1 lakh each, reported DNA.
The unimpressive performance put up by ‘Jai Ho’ is surprising considering the fact that Salman’s films have been Box Office churners. His previous 5 releases have all been blockbusters so one does wonder what made the film slump.
Salman recently drew flak for performing at the Saifai Mahotsav, organised by the Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh. His son and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh- Akhilesh Yadav- was under severe criticism for hosting such a gala event even as a number of communal riot hit victims were struggling to survive in cold weather due to inadequate and improper rehabilitation.
A few days hence, Salman participated in the Kite flying festival in Ahmedabad hosted by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. A few groups protested against the actor for sharing the limelight with the minister and sought an apology from Salman for praising the CM.
Nonetheless, Salman continues to do what he feels is good despite all criticism.
