Gorakhpur, Feb 14: The World Hindu Convention, being held here, today demanded a total ban on cow slaughter.
The three-day convention, which opened at Gorakhnath Temple yesterday, sought a total ban on cow slaughter not only
India but also the world over wherever Hindus resided.
The resolution also sought a ban on conversion of Hindus.
In another resolution, it condemned the "atrocities" being perpetrated on Hindus and Buddhists in Bangladesh and
demanded immediate steps by the neighbouring country to put a stop to it.
On the construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya, the convention urged the Centre to immediately entrust the acquired and disputed land, after getting the matter resolved by the court, to the Ram Janambhumi Trust for construction of the temple. It was decided to hold the next world Hindu convention in 2005-06, its silver jubilee year, at Veerganj in Nepal.
