Manipur ministry loses confidence vote, Koijam resigns
The three-month-old Samata Party-led People`s Front ministry in Manipur was on Monday voted out of the assembly. Out of the 26 BJP MLAs 24 voted against the government. Manipur CM Radhabinod Koijam resigned immediately after his ruling alliance lost the vote of confidence.

Raj Bhavan source told a news agency that Governor Ved Prakash Marwah asked him to continue
in office till alternative arrangements are made.
While 17 members voted in favour of the confidence motion moved by Chief Minister Radhabinod Koijam, 39 members opposed it, speaker Sapam Dhananjoy announced in the House.
Of the 26 BJP MLAs in the 60-member house, higher Education minister haobam bhuban singh voted in favour, while 24 members opposed it.
BJP legislature wing leader R K Dorendra Singh abstained.
The 39 legislators who opposed the trust vote were: BJP - 24, Manipur State Congress Party (Chaoba) - 10, Nationalist Congress Party - 2, Federal Party of Manipur - 2 and Janata Dal (Loken) - 1.
The 17 members who supported the motion were Samata Party - 13, BJP - 1, Manipur State Congress Party (Nipamacha) - 1, Manipur People`s Party - 1 and independent - 1.
