New Delhi, June 11: ASI's latest progress report on Ayodhya excavations reportedly suggesting that no corroborating evidence has been found for structures preceding the demolished mosque evoked mixed response today with BJP saying it cannot be "conclusive" and a belligerent VHP expressing determination to build the temple at the disputed site itself. "There have been various reports and in the light of these one cannot ignore report of Tojo Vikas International Ltd," party spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters here.
The Tojo report had said there seemed to be such evidence, of pillars and like structures, seemingly from structures beneath and pre-dating the 16th century mosque. VHP central secretary Surendra Jain said, "Whatever may be the result of the excavation or the judgement in the case, we are determined to build a temple at the disputed site. It is a matter of faith and matters of faith cannot be questioned."
RSS spokesman Ram Madhav said from Nagpur, "The matter is sub-judice. The court had asked all organisations involved to keep the information (pertaining to excavation) confidential. We don't comment on gossips. We look forward to the court verdict." He also pointed out that a leading magazine had some time back in its report suggested that lot of evidence had been found in support of a temple beneath the demolished mosque.
Congress too refrained from making any comment on the report saying, "It is only a tentative report and we would wait for a final report before making any comment on it." Bureau Report
