New Delhi, May 06: In the backdrop of India's diplomatic efforts to have Ulfa and other north-east insurgents group's camps closed in Bhutan, Army Chief General N C Vij today embarked on a five day visit to Himalayan kingdom and North Bengal. During his visit to Thimpu, Vij would hold talks with Bhutanese Army top brass on intensified efforts by New Delhi to close down Ulfa and Bodo camps in Southern Bhutan. Prior to his visit to Bhutan, the Army Chief would visit Army formations in North Bengal as well as Sikkim to take stock of operations against militant hideouts on the Indian side of the border.
This would be Gen Vij first visit to the area since assumption of office.
