New Delhi, Nov 05: Deepawali, the festival of lights, passed off peacefully all over the country with traditional fervour and a new hope of joy and prosperity. Notwithstanding the rigours, men, women and children reeled in the festive spirit exchanging pleasantaries, sweets and gifts as traditional gaiety and religious fervour marked the celebrations. Earthen diyas shimmerring with light, ornately designed lanterns and aesthetically drawn up rangoli patterns covered the landscape as denizens, attired in their best, memorised the victory of good over evil. Traders worshipped ledgers and business documents, welcoming the goddess of wealth into their commercial establishments and households.
Age was no bar as young and the old alike burst crackers and lit flower pots.
