A plethora of rockers come and go, but the paraphernalia of Mick stays on with his enthralling rhythm.
Songs like Sympathy for the Devil, Honky Tonk Woman and the maverick album with anarchist overtones “Sticky Fingers” earned his band a demi-god status and a cult status that refuses to fade away. Mick Jagger is one of those rare artists who have performed in thousands of concerts with an undying passion of connecting with the audience…A lesson that should be imparted to the new-age singers of today, who usually engross themselves with the paparazzi more than their fans.
An incorrigible dancer on the stage, he set the trend for the trend-setters themselves and his style of grunting and suddenly perplexing the listener with an aggression that stays in the realms of uncertainty paved way for many grunge rockers of his time.
It is aptly said that the artiste redeems his age’s fallacies through his/her brilliance and Mick did exactly that and gave the masses a new way of thinking, breaking the boundaries set by the moral police and questioning the policies of the government when atrocities were induced on the masses.
One can never forget the kick that came out of watching the Rolling Stones’ ‘40 Licks Tour’, an event that left the critics who said that Jagger and his band were in a time-warp and too old for comfort, gasping for breath. The power packed stellar performances by the Stones was something special, the zeal of the members was unmatchable and sheer exuberance of musical genius emanated from every note that they struck on stage.
Mick Jagger has been a wild-child, an anarchist, the man possessed with music, Satan’s contemporary on Earth and an inspiration for many from rockers world. He has done it all with a panache least expected from him and even today he’ll leave you growling for more as he re-invents himself every morning, or in his words… I haven`t had the time to plan returning to the scene because I haven`t left it.Mick Jagger Lifeline:
