New Delhi, Feb 03: The Kashmiri Samiti, a nodal agency for displaced Kashmiris Pandits, said that the Jammu and Kashmir government had decided to cancel a recent order directing 19 migrant state government employees, presently in Delhi, to return immediately to their parent departments in the valley. Samiti president Sunil Shakdher said Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma had assured him in a letter that no Kashmiri Pandit would be transferred to Srinagar.
Talking at the all Kashmiri Pandit Organisations meet organised by the Samiti, he said the Samiti had accorded top priority to the issue and had made it clear that no formula for return of Kashmiri Pandits on a ''peacemeal basis'' would be acceptable to the community.
He said he had met Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, his Delhi counterpart Shiela Dikshit, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and other leaders to lodge a protest on the issue.
He said forcing Kashmiri Pandits to go back to the state without evolving a ''consolidated policy on their return'' in consultation with the members of the community would be like subjecting them to another forced migration.
However, a clear statement on ''our thoughts on return'' will be made after a meeting next month, he added.
