New Delhi, Mar 22: Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee yesterday congratulated the Indian cricket team for their memorable five-wicket win over Pakistan at Lahore that helped the team level the five-match series 2-2.
Vajpayee spoke to skipper Sourav Ganguly on the phone and conveyed his congratulations to the team, according to PMO sources.
''The Prime Minister told Ganguly 'Aapne match hi nahin, dil bhi jeeta hain' (you have not only won the match but the hearts as well),'' the official added.
The PM also congratulated Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul Haq for his classy century.
Vajpayee had, prior to the team's departure to Pakistan on March 10, handed over a bat to skipper Ganguly with the message ''Match hi nahin, dil bhi jitiye, meri shubkamnayein (not only the matches, win the hearts as well, my best wishes)''.



Congress president Sonia Gandhi has also congratulated the Indian team for their superb win tonight.
