Militants beheaded two National Conference activists after abducting them from their houses at village Khaipora early on Tuesday, police said.
The bodies of Abdul Jabbar Bhat and Abdul Khaliq Bhat were recovered from the Batapora forest in Handwara area of Kupwara, they said. A massive hunt has been launched to nab the militants involved in the killing.
Meanwhile, in Jammu, five people, including two security personnel, were injured when two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) exploded in Ramban and Aassar areas of Doda district on Monday, police said.
Two CRPF jawans were injured when an IED exploded at Raghi Nullah in Assar area of Doda, they said adding the injured were hospitalised. Another IED exploded on Monday in a field where three civilians were working in Sumer area of Ramban tehsil of the district.
The injured were later rushed to hospital where the condition of one of them is stated to be critical, the sources said.
