Port-Au-Prince, May 28: An international rescue operation for Haiti and the Dominican Republic gathered pace today as the death toll from flash floods rose to 918 with hundreds still missing. The United Nations and other aid agencies were trying to get water and medical supplies to the worst hit towns, UN officials said. But bad weather held up efforts.
The official toll in the Dominican Republic rose today to 339 dead and at least 375 missing, mainly in the devastated town of Jimani. The official toll in Haiti rose by eight overnight to 579 dead.
National Emergency Commission spokesman Jose Luis German said there were 329 confirmed dead, 375 missing and 122 injured in Jimani, which was virtually wiped out by the flash floods in the earth younger players."
Thomas, who put pen to paper on his Toulouse contract Wednesday, sustained the injury following a challenge with barbarian replacement hooker Anton Oliver.
"The first thing that went through my mind was panic because I thought I had broken my ankle and messed up the move to Toulouse by getting injured," Thomas said.
"I want to get on the tour and play for my country because it is a big part of my career and I am hoping I can be fit in time.
"I was especially gutted last night to come off because I was enjoying the game so much."
