Palestine Liberation Organisation on Monday appealed to India to intervene in defusing the deteriorating security situation in West Asia in the wake of the siege of Yasser Arafat's headquarters in Ramallah.
Arafat's special envoy Hani Al-Hassan, who arrived here over the weekend, is carrying a letter from the PLO chief for Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, an External Affairs Ministry official said.
A member of the Central Committee of Fateh Movement, Al-Hassan, who met Special Secretary (East) in the External Affairs Ministry R M Abhayankar, has sought New Delhi's intervention in the West Asia crisis, the official said, adding that he would be meeting Prime Minister's Principal Secretary and National Security Adviser Brajesh Mishra on Tuesday.
He is expected to apprise the Indian leaders of the Palestinian position in the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Bureau Report
