Eddie Murphy wins award for donkey role in `Shrek`

Eddie Murphy celebrated his birthday by winning a trophy at the Kids Choice award for his animated character in the `Shrek` series.

London: Hollywood actor Eddie Murphy celebrated his birthday by winning a trophy at the Kids Choice award for his animated character in the `Shrek` series.
The `Nutty Professor` star, who is the voice of Donkey in `Shrek`, accepted the award for the Favourite Voice in an Animated Movie at the ceremony in Los Angeles on Saturday, reported a website. Accepting the award, the actor, who turned 50 on Sunday, said, "Thank you for liking Shrek. This is like an early birthday present... tomorrow is my birthday." Murphy also made the entire audience sing `Happy Birthday` to him before finally leaving the stage. The actor is now working on his latest film Tower Heist, in which he stars alongside Ben Stiller, Matthew Broderick and Casey Affleck. The film is set for release in autumn 2011. PTI
