New Delhi, Oct 15: Delhi Police has put an impregnable blanket of security around the capital as lakhs in the city celebrate Dussehra today. An additional ten companies of police have been deployed especially for the festival. Last night, Delhi Police Commissioner R S Gupta inspected security arrangements all over the city for over three hours. Describing the preparedness as “fool-proof”, Gupta said, “Nature of security is according to the nature of threat.”
He met the policemen on vigil for a first hand assessment. “Detailed arrangements have been made. Different officials have checked preparations at different levels,” he assured, “Different arrangements have been made for crowd control and different for ant-terrorist.”
High vigilance in the capital is owing to terrorist threats on the occasion.
The dummy of Ravana, filled with crackers, will be set on fire in 800 places in the city including 10 near Red Fort alone. The Prime Minister and other VIPs are expected to attend the function at Red Fort.
