Kolkata, Oct 27: Hindustan Motors, owned by C K Birla Group, has concluded an arrangement to supply engine and gear box of General Motors sports utility vehicles, which are yet to hit Indian roads. Sources in HM said that supplies to GM will start from January, involving a gross billing of around Rs 100 crore in a single financial year for the company.
Meanwhile, the company board would meet in Delhi tomorrow to finalise the second quarter financial results. Sources said that sales in the first half of the current financial year suffered a setback as supply of engine components for its Ambassador car stopped for about two months as the DCM Foundry went on strike.
The company was now selling around 1500 Ambassadors per month, which was expected to pick up in the second half as supplies of engine components had resumed with the strike being called off. The sources said that Lancer sales had also been hovering around 500 per month, which was more or less in line with the company's target for the current financial year. Bureau Report
