Mitt Romney, the chief of Salt Lake City's Olympic organising committee, turned into a traffic cop on Sunday, spending 30 minutes on a busy highway to try to clear out a backup on the way to the Alpine ski area. "I was just waving people on and there were quite a few cars that stopped and said, 'Where do we go?'" Romney told a news conference about how people unwittingly handed him the job of a traffic cop.
"I'm sure I didn't make a lot of friends but we sure cleared out the traffic," he said in good humour.

The problem was caused by a parking shortage at the Snowbasin ski area outside Salt Lake City, creating a massive backup on Interstate 84 that caught even Romney in its net.
Once he understood the problem, Romney said, he got out of his vehicle and went to the exit ramp from the highway and directed traffic to another parking area. Bureau Report
