Over the years, ‘Harry Potter’ franchise has touched sky-high popularity so much so that it has found an iconic status. With ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ being the sixth flick, one can imagine how much popularity the Rowling’s novel based movie has garnered over the years. Well, for all those who are looking forward to watch ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’, the sixth sequel is a big disappointment for the ‘Harry Potter’ fans as the movie fails to deliver. ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ almost falls flat in comparison to its predecessors, as the new movie is all about death and darkness rather than fantasy and magic! With the trio - Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) entering teenage, the movie focuses more on their personal life rather than magic, exams and Quidditch matches – something which was a staple ingredient of every ‘Harry Potter’ movie till date. ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ is quite different from its predecessors in terms of treatment and lacks the trill and adventure that was seen during earlier ‘Harry Potter’ flicks. If fear, unknown and surprise have been adrenaline-rushing elements of the ‘Harry Potter’, there is no Lord Voldemont in ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’! Of course, we do find him as young Tom Riddle, who longs for immortality, but nothing like the bizarre figure we come across in ‘Harry Potter’ part four and five. Well, in terms of cinematography, ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ is a big hit as it successfully recreates the dark air without brining Lord Voldemont alive on screen! In terms of the plot, ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ follows Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley taking on the greatest wizard. Basically, ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ explores the relationship of Professor Albus Dumbledore and Harry Potter. In this newfound relationship between the master and disciple goes a change where Dumbledore looks Harry as a friend rather than a mere student. And as teenage brings forth new feelings; love is in the air for Harry and his friends too! In ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’, Hermione Granger loves Ron Weasley, where the latter is smitten by Lavender Brown (Jessie Cave) whereas Harry Potter simply adores Ginny Weasley who is dating Dean Thomas (Alfie Enoch). Apart from the typical boy-girl romance, Daniel once again successfully plays the role of a wizard with perfect élan but its Michael Gambon whose role of Albus Dumbledore is worth a watch! Well, what one can say of Emma Watson, the cherubic girl has finally grown up into a lissome beauty! Yet, beyond this, ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ fails to deliver with its over the top dark and brooding feel. The whole dark element simply takes away the fantasy and magic from the flick. For die-hard fans of ‘Harry Potter’, a sincere word of advice: don’t expect highly from ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ Rating: Two cheers for this one
