Los Angeles: "Grey's Anatomy" star Jessica Capshaw has signed a three-year contract extension with the show.

The 38-year-old actress, who plays Dr Arizona Robbins on the medical drama, had been out of contract with the ABC show since May, TVLine reported.

Elsewhere, Martin Henderson recently joined the cast of "Grey's Anatomy" as a series regular surgeon.

Jason George, who plays Dr Ben Warren on the ABC medical drama, has also been promoted to series regular.

ABC president Paul Lee has since clarified that season 12 will not be the end for the long-running drama series.

"Grey's Anatomy" fans were left reeling after Dr Derek Shepherd, played by Patrick Dempsey, was killed off in a car accident back in April.

The ABC drama's 12th season will premiere on September 24.
