New Delhi, Aug 05: The government is aware of attempts being made by Pakistan's ISI to revive militancy in Punjab, Lok Sabha was informed today. Replying to queries during Question Hour, Minister of State for Home, I D Swami, said the government has adopted an integrated approach to counter attempts being made by the ISI to revive militancy in Punjab.
Pro-Khalistan militant outfits, namely, Babbar Khalsa international, International Sikh Youth Federation, Khalistan commando force and Khalistan Zindabad force, have been banned under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, 2002, he said.
In reply to another question, he said Laskhar-e-Toiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed are in the forefront to carry out terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country.
Eleven LeT activists were indicted recently in the USA for conspiring against India, the Minister said.
They were found to have established links with Markaz-ud-Daawa-wal-Irshad and its militant wing, LeT, in Pakistan, he said.
In order to tackle terrorism, the government has adopted a multi-pronged approach which includes strengthening of borders, galvanizing of intelligence machinery, monitoring of well coordinated intelligence based operations and modernisation of state police forces.
Besides, government has notified 32 organisations, including LeT, as terrorist outfits under Pota, the Minister said. Bureau Report
