New Delhi: Bollywood`s first superstar Rajesh Khanna, who recently had a health scare, is back in action with his first television ad and says he is "delighted to reconnect with fans once again".
The actor will be seen in the new Havell`s fan ad campaign called Havells Fans Forever. The TVC, directed by R. Balki, shows the iconic superstar talking about his fans and giving the viewers a sense that he still enjoys a huge fan following.
"To be approached after so many years is indeed a great honour for me and I am delighted to reconnect with my fans once again. Shooting after a gap of so many years has definitely brought back fond memories and I feel that not a lot has changed at all. It`s good to be back," Rajesh Khanna said in a statement.
In the ad, he goes down memory lane, remembering how his fans used to follow him everywhere when he was a superstar.
Balki, also the chairman and chief creative officer of Lowe Lintas, said Rajesh Khanna was an apt choice as he still commands a lot of respect.
"This new campaign gave us a great opportunity to capture the essence of the brand with sheer simplicity. When the ad was being conceived, we could think of none other than Rajesh Khanna himself who still commands a great deal of respect and maximum fan following! Needless to say that it was a huge achievement to direct Mr. Khanna in his first ever commercial," said Balki.
Anil Gupta, joint managing director (JMD), Havells (India), says that the best part about Rajesh Khanna is that "even after 30 or 40 odd years, people of not only our generation but of the younger generation as well, remember him as one of the biggest stars of his time. He will be revered for ever just like our Havells Fans!"
