Zee TV’s ‘Doli Armaanon Ki’ completes 200 episodes!

Completing a journey of 200 episodes, the show has managed to make a place in the hearts of its viewers within a short span of time…

Telling the tale of a young, bright-eyed bride – Urmi, and her hopes and aspirations of living a happily married life, Zee TV’s ‘Doli Armaanon Ki’ is a show that has managed to strike a chord with millions of viewers across India in a short span of time. Completing 200 episodes this week, the makers of the show thank the audiences for having lauded them with all the appreciation and helped them reach this milestone.

So far in the show, Urmi (played by Neha Marda) has been seen compromising on several fronts post marriage - especially putting up with her husband Samrat’s (Mohit Malik) outdated, sexist and typically chauvinistic views on the man-woman relationship. While Urmi has been grappling with these woes, she is suddenly hit with two dark issues that shake the very foundation of her marriage – domestic abuse at first and then infidelity. Very shortly after Samrat leaves her bruised and bleeding when he raises his hand on her in a heated argument, she finds out that he is having an illicit affair with another woman. Unlike most other women who succumb to societal pressures and bear these atrocities, Urmi stands up for her rights and refuses to bow down to her husband’s whims. Urmi, at this point, decides to walk out of her husband’s house and instead of depending on her own family, supports herself by taking up a job. In treating domestic abuse and infidelity as absolute deal-breakers and standing up for herself, Urmi lays down a fine example for scores of women in our country trapped in bad marriages to emulate. The show is an attempt to reach out to these women and help them find their voice and lost dignity.

Neha Marda says, “It’s a moment of celebration on the sets today as we complete 200 episodes, the show has been received very well. I am extremely proud of the way Urmi’s chosen to assert herself and has walked out on a husband who has not only raised his hand on her but even cheated on her with another woman. There need to be a few, clearly defined deal breakers in any marriage – things a woman should simply refuse to put up with. We’ve set an example through Urmi for women trapped in troubled marriages to follow. It’s a feeling of great accomplishment when we have viewers writing in to us with their personal accounts and how they’ve taken a stand and stood up for themselves after watching the show!”

We hope the viewers keep showering their love just as they have in the past and help the show conquer many more milestones in the future.
