US warplanes bombed unspecified enemy positions in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday and on Sunday, after friendly Afghan forces came under attack there, the central command announced. The strikes came after pro-government Afghan forces ran into an enemy roadblock on a road at about 2:30 am (1300 IST) on Saturday, the command said in a statement without specifying where exactly the roadblock was and who manned it. When the coalition forces attempted to pass through the roadblock, enemy troops opened fire, killing one Afghan and wounding three, the statement said. The pro-government troops then called in an air strike and US planes dropped precision guided weapons on the designated targets, according to the command. The US aircraft returned on Sunday for a follow-up stroke, dropping more precision guided weapons. A command official said that she could not release any more details.

“That's really all I can tell. That's really all I have,” she said, asking not to be identified. Bureau Report
