This film does belong to the thin, tall, fair girl in yellow boots (her earlier film). In 'Margarita With A Straw', Kalki plays a character suffering from cerebral palsy. Shonali Bose—the director

The Bengali filmmaker cum writer has been receiving a lot of good words and praise from industry bigwigs such as megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Karan Johar. Shonali is known for her earlier venture 'Amu', which dealt with the genocidal attacks on Sikhs during 1984. Interestingly, she was also the co-writer for 'Chittagong' starring Manoj Bajpai. Storyline

'Margarita With A Straw' has a hard-hitting storyline which shows how a girl who is suffering from cerebral palsy beats her everyday struggle in life. Kalki's mom played by veteran actress Revathi is seen taking care of her child in the promos—clearly bringing out the beautiful relationship which exists between the mother and the daughter on screen. It is the director whose vision makes such a strong film appealing to the masses.

International acclaim

The movie has so far bagged a lot of international acclaim. Kalki Koechlin won the Best Actress award at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in 2014. It also won the Audience Award and the Youth Jury Award at Vesoul Film Festival in France this year. Besides, it bagged the Asian Film Awards for the Best Composer Award 2015. 'Margarita With A Straw' also managed to win the NETPAC award World or International Asian Film Premiere at 2014 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF)--where this was the only Indian film to get awarded.

Word of mouth

A lot of buzz has been created by the industry who's who after they watched the special screening of the film. From Amitabh Bachchan to Anurag Kashyap—all have praised the movie so far. Many celebrities took to Twitter and posted about how good they felt after watching the film.
