FTII alumni, faculty to groom 'Little Directors', says CFSI

Schoolchildren from across the country will get a chance to be mentored in the art of filmmaking by alumni and faculty of the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, as per a unique programme by Children's Film Society, India (CFSI).

New Delhi: Schoolchildren from across the country will get a chance to be mentored in the art of filmmaking by alumni and faculty of the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, as per a unique programme by Children's Film Society, India (CFSI).

The CFSI is all set to roll out "Little Directors" through a tie-up with FTII, officials said.

As per the programme, FTII will be on-board for conducting 'Little Directors' workshops, where schools from across India will be involved in mentoring the young students through various stages of filmmaking. The films produced by children will be released by CFSI on its YouTube channel.

"Having made films for and of Children, CFSI is now gearing up towards making films by the children. We are now giving a special impetus to nurture and experiment with children's creativity by providing them opportunities and platform for filmmaking.

"In this process we are in final stages of discussions with FTII, Pune for partnering our programme Little Directors, which will be one of the very unique experiments across the country," Shravan Kumar, CEO (CFSI) told PTI.

A specially curated competition section, titled 'Little Directors', at the 18th Golden Elephant, International Children's Film Festival India, last year received wide acclaim both from children and filmmakers.

Seeing the overwhelming response to this initiative, CFSI has now formally extended this programme through 'Little Directors', which plans to educate the young generation in the art of film appreciation and filmmaking, officials said.

"Our objective is not only to make them watch a movie as young audience but also as a director, producer, artist etc," Kumar added.
