Shimla, May 15: Himachal Pradesh Rural Development and Employment Minister, Sat Mahajan today asked for the launch of a special drive to provide maximum job opportunities to the people of the state in government as well as in the private sector. In order to provide gainful and purposeful employment to the unemployed youth of the state in the private sector officers of the labour and employment department should make strategies at initial stages of ongoing projects, Mahajan said.
"Jobs to Himachali people should be given top priority by the department of labour and employment for which all officers posted under different disciplines would work jointly," he said. "There were around 11-lakh unemployed people in the state who were registered with employment exchanges. The department must evolve a policy to watch the interest of all unemployed people in such a way that at least needy people are adjusted in government as well as in private jobs within a specific time frame," he added.
Directing officers to enforce various labour laws in the interest of workers Mahajan advised them to be courteous in dealing with the employers. District officers were also asked to send monthly reports with respect to jobs provided to unemployed people in various private and government sectors so that their performance could be reviewed every month.
