The United States is waiting to see whether Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf will end cross border terrorism into India as promised by him. “As I think you noted in President Musharraf's remarks at the White House,” he said, “He had disavowed any support for terrorism anywhere in the world”, State Department spokesman Richard Boucher told reporters on whether the Pakistani President was carrying out India's demand that he stop crossborder terrorism into India completely.
“We think that is positive. (but) that kind of statement he has made before, and we look for steps. We have seen some steps. We look for implementation of that.”

Boucher said, “US is interested in seeing both India and Pakistan take further steps to ease tensions and Secretary of State Colin Powell is in continuous touch with both sides to ease the situation and truly get us out of what probably remains a dangerous period vis-a-vis the military confrontation.” Bureau Report
