The key facilitator in the January 22 attack at the American centre in Kolkata, Md Nasir, has been remanded to police custody till March 6, deputy commissioner of police (detective department) Soumen Mitra on Friday said. Nasir, however, rejected the proposal to make deposition under Section 164 before the court, Mitra said. The section permits an accused to make deposition before the magistrate, he said. He said this PC was in connection with recovery of arms from his possession while the earlier one was for his involvement in the attack.
“Our job is done and now CID will do its part,” Mitra said. Asked how long the police will take to lodge the chargesheet in connection with the attack in which five constables were killed, the DC (DD) said that the chargesheet will be submitted after investigation is over. Bureau Report
