Three history-sheeters working for fugitive underworld don Chhota Rajan have been nabbed following an operation by the anti-extortion cell of the Mumbai Police.
They were picked up from south Mumbai over the last two days, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Pradeep Sawant said.
The trio -- Nadeem Ahamed Syyed (24), Sajid Abdul Majid Momin (26) and Akbar Maainuddin Shaikh (19) -- were arrested when they came to collect a ransom demanded from a city-based businessman.
They demanded Rs five lakh and threatened to abduct or kill the complainant if he failed to pay.
Two mobile phones of the gangsters and a cache of imported firearms were seized by the raiding party.
The operation, conducted by DCP Sawant, was co-ordinated by Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) B S Mohite.
The trio were wanted by Mumbai Police in various cases of henious crime.
