India on Friday rubbished British media reports that American and British troops were in the Kashmir valley to track down the September 11 attack mastermind Osama bin Laden. ``This is absolutely rubbish. There is no truth in it,`` a defence ministry spokesman said in New Delhi reacting to reports that British soldiers from the Special Air Service regiment (SAS) had joined members of Delta Force, the US equivalent of the SAS, in Kashmir to track down the Saudi-born fugitive. Meanwhile, army sources said that the British and US forces may be conducting some kind of an operation in Pakistan occupied Kashmir, but there was no question of their presence in Jammu and Kashmir. The daily ‘Telegraph’ had earlier reported that British and American special forces were hunting for Osama bin Laden in Kashmir after intelligence reports said that he had sought the protection of an extremist Islamic group.
