New Delhi, Sept 20: Launching the Samajwadi Party's election campaign for the coming assembly elections in the capital, its president Mulayam Singh Yadav today said the third front needs to be revived to give a viable alternative to the BJP and Congress. "BJP and Congress alternate in forming the government at the Centre and most of the states. We need to provide a third alternative," the Uttar Pradesh chief minister said while addressing a rally here.

He also announced the first list of five candidates for the polls scheduled for the end of the year.

In his first public meeting in Delhi after becoming chief minister, Yadav targeted BJP and BSP for their policies in UP and the Centre.
On the BJP plans to revive the temple issue, he said, "they only remember Ayodhya when I am the chief minister”.

"BJP has got no ideology, policy and plan for any section of society," Yadav said adding "they only want to get to power by spreading hatred and exploiting communal sentiments."

Even now, when up is suffering floods, they cannot think of issues affecting the general public, he alleged.

Charging former chief minister Mayawati of leaving the state exchequer empty by indulging in corruption, SP chief said his partymen were victimised and persecuted in her regime.
Referring to the Supreme Court directive on Gujarat riots, Yadav claimed "any government left with conscience would have resigned," adding "otherwise Centre should have dismissed it."
