Report by: Shruti Sharma Day 3 of the Lakme Fashion India Week showcased the collection of designer Manish Arora. The funky designer known for his bizarre designing packed in plenty of jest and eerie extravagance to his collection. Typically radical, the red hot designs set the ramp on fire after the parade of the usual prét lines.
His collection can be described as merry madness. Predictably the collection was dizzy and trendy. Best described as merry madness, the collection was predictably dizzy and trendy. The predominantly nylon and lycra fabrics were given a whole new lease of life with designs specially created for these fabrics.
An animated clip of Manish and a fish, trying to kill each other, stood out among the prints on his outfits. Comic strips, nursery rhymes, kitsch accessories, candy colors made the whole look very bubbly and girlie. The florescent flash on shoes and clothes proved amusing as distinct a feature on the ramp. Funky bags, corsets with pleated skirts, tube tops were all woven into the ‘parody’ collection. The skin-tight jumpers made the models look more flimsy and chic.
All in all, after the effect of his extravaganza, not a single member of the audience remained immune to the zest of juvenile fun and enjoy the whole drama clothing. Just what the collection preaches, ‘Get animated’! As per Arora, he promises animated prints to be big this year. And his timing was perfect –(catch Amrita Rao flaunting tops with animated prints in this week`s big release Main Hoon Na.) A bit of naughty and a bit of bubbly, if you really want to show that demeanor then Manish’s designs are the way to go! So what are you waiting for?? Go ahead, grab an outfit and wear your ATTITUDE!!
